Effects of Nitrogen and Zinc Fertilization on Alleviating Cadmium Accumulation in Durum Wheat Grains

چکیده

Cadmium (Cd) accumulation in durum wheat (Triticum L.) is of particular concern compared to the other commonly cultivated cereals. This study was conducted determine effects zinc (Zn) and nitrogen (N) applications on grain Cd concentration grown a contaminated soil. The experimental design consisted randomized plots with four replications. treatments included low adequate (0.05 5 mg kg−1) Zn doses, inadequate, optimal high (200, 400 600 N doses. application rates were 0 kg−1. findings demonstrated that caused significant increase concentrations, decrease straw yields under doses all However, increasing soil an concentration. optimum treatment 6206 µg kg−1, while decreased by 26.3% (4574 treatment. In addition, conditions application, whereas increased results revealed combined deficient soils highly effective at decreasing grains individual applications.

Effects of Different Metals on Photosynthesis: Cadmium and Zinc Affect Chlorophyll Fluorescence in Durum Wheat

A comparative study of the effects of exposure to high Cd2+ (50 µM) and excess Zn2+ (600 µM) on photosynthetic performance of hydroponically-grown durum wheat seedlings was performed. At day 8, Cd and Zn were added to the nutrient solution. After 7-days exposure, the chosen concentrations of both metals resulted in similar relative growth rate (RGR) inhibitions of about 50% and comparable retar...

Efficiency of nitrogen fertilization in spring wheat

An assessment of the nitrogen fertilization efficiency should not only include quantitativeand qualitative yield changes, but also an analysis of formation some indicators such as: Nharvest index (NHI), N use efficiency (NUE), N utilization efficiency (NUtE), N agronomicefficiency (NAE), N physiological efficiency (NPE) and N apparent recovery fraction (NRF).The objective of the study was the e...

Impact of domestication on the phenotypic architecture of durum wheat under contrasting nitrogen fertilization.

The process of domestication has led to dramatic morphological and physiological changes in crop species due to adaptation to cultivation and to the needs of farmers. To investigate the phenotypic architecture of shoot- and root-related traits and quantify the impact of primary and secondary domestication, we examined a collection of 36 wheat genotypes under optimal and nitrogen-starvation cond...

Identification and Validation of a New Source of Low Grain Cadmium Accumulation in Durum Wheat

Cadmium (Cd) is a heavy metal that has no known biological function and is toxic for many living organisms. The maximum level of Cd concentration allowed in the international market for wheat grain is 0.2 mg kg-1 Because phenotyping for Cd uptake is expensive and time consuming, molecular markers associated with genes conferring low Cd uptake would expedite selection and lead to the development...

Effects of post-anthesis heat stress and nitrogen levels on grain yield in wheat (T. durum and T. aestivum) genotypes

In order to study the effects of post-anthesis heat stress and nitrogen levels on grain yield and yield components of wheat genotypes, two separate field experiments were conducted in delayed and optimum sowing dates under Ahvaz conditions (2006-2007). The Ahvaz site located in south west of Iran (32°20' N, 40°20' E) with subtropical climate condition. The experiment site had a moderate w...
